Please welcome Dr. Camilla Williams (California psychologist; License Number PSY 27200; Pronouns: she, her, hers) to Waves, A Psychological Corporation.
We, at Waves, are super delighted to have hired Dr. Camilla. Dr. Camilla begins work at Waves’s Poway, CA office on the week of September 1, 2017. She has tremendous experience and talent as a clinician, teacher, advocate, and supervisor. That said, I’m most excited about her coming to work with us because of her heart.
I’ve also heard she has skill in removing commas when they are inappropriately placed in long sentences, and since I am a big fan of using extra commas in my writing, I was thrilled to have her editing skills on board as well.
Really, though, it is her approachability and kindness that made me want to work more with her. I was also so glad to learn of her advocacy for trans students, her work with veterans, and her comfort in working with trans and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer people.
While I knew that I wanted to employ an additional licensed clinician to expand my private practice, I wanted to make sure that the person I hired would be more than open to working with LGBTQIQAP – identified people, instead, they would share similar values about the IMPORTANCE of working with these populations AND that they would have had the experience to do so in an affirming and aware way. Dr. Camilla is more than open; she is affirming and knowledgeable and willing to learn and grow to become even more skilled in working with queer and trans people. She is also very polyamory – affirming and BDSM – affirming.
I also wanted to add to the diversity and reach of Waves. Dr. Camilla helps Waves be a more accessible place to receive mental health care as she is fluent in American Sign Language.

Dr. Camilla Williams is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)
AND
knows about deaf culture
AND
can help clinicians become more adept at working with interpreters.
After Dr. Camilla begins with Waves, she will share with you more information about her expertise in these and other areas, through blog posts, updates on her web page, community presentations, and in meetings with other clinicians.
