It's my birthday and I just want to adult: 3 annoying and possible ways to support yourself on your happiest day

I was born today, some 30 plus years ago. 

I love my birthday. I love it so much that I celebrate it for a full month! March is Abi's birthday month! I love the little things in life so today, I'm making a point to do as many little things for others as I can. 

So far, in the few hours I've been awake (I let myself sleep in because - it's my birthday! ) I've opened the door for someone at our local coffee shop and encouraged them to go in front of me. I've appreciated a woman's fabulous pink sneakers and shared a smile with the person she was walking with about her excitement over her shoe find. I was respectful and kind to everyone I've met today, meeting any glares with wide, authentic smiles. :) 

1ST WAY TO SUPPORT SELF MISSION: DO LITTLE THINGS FOR OTHERS

It's brightened up my day significantly and it's not yet 10am! Smiling today and giving away love freely makes me so grateful for the capacity to love. I treasure it and relish this capacity!

My second way to support myself today is to do the things that have been haunting me. Some call these the adulting tasks: the things that adults do to function in their world. These are the personal tasks that puncture my sleep and my waking hours. They are the should have gotten dones. Today, I do as many of them as I can do. Because, as luck would have it, today is one of my days off so I have the time to focus on my out-of-work tasks. What tasks would you do on a day devoted to your well-being?  Would you stretch your muscles? Or write that thank you note? What would calm your mind if it got done? What part of a task is calling your name? Could you spend 5 minutes starting a task? Today, I can and I will. Today, I will start. 

2ND WAY TO SUPPORT SELF MISSION: DO THE ADULTING THINGS

These tasks are annoying and important. Doing the adulting tasks mean that you are caring for yourself. They might not be fun but they are ways to value yourself and keep yourself strong and mighty for the road ahead. 

The final way is the fun way. Today, I work to surround myself with love. I started out the day with family. My heart is full. <3 Then, I took myself to coffee and got the cutest ever cake pop. I admired this pop from all angles. Its decorations made me smile and I relished in each bite, the frosting, and the cake. One bite became many as I took the time to appreciate the joy, sweetness, and heart that this tiny gift could give me. I give myself this day to find love in everything, even and especially when it is tough. I linger in the possibility of finding love everywhere.
